From a Mother’s Heart The day I realized

From a Mother’s Heart

The day I realized Jordan really was going to wrestle and do Judo, I almost couldn’t think straight. Where is the little girl who wore bows in her hair that matched her dress? She could keep up with the boys and was often wrestling with her brother and going to his meets, but in my mind I still picture her in a dress holding a doll or her favorite bear. Now she wants to throw people?
I’m so glad I didn’t stop her. One thing I’ve learned: This girl can’t be stopped.

It’s almost TIME!

London is literally right around the corner and I’m definitely feeling it! Some exciting things are going on around here!

This coming Monday, August 13, is the release day of the trailer for the documentary I’m in! It’s about judo, the blind judo foundation, and… it features ME! I CAN’T wait to see it! I’m VERY excited about it, if you can’t tell 🙂 So y’all keep your eyes peeled for that!

I’ve been doing A LOT of strength and conditioning training outside of the dojo lately, which has been great for me. But I needed to take a couple of days and dedicate them just to Judo, so I hopped on a plane and ended up in California for some excellent judo training. This is going to be good for me, I’m getting back to my aggressive-judo-fighting self and it’s all coming together – just in time for the big show!!!

Being an Olympian means sacrifice.

Being an Olympian means sacrifice. The sacrifice of time, money, a social life, a life of training and dieting (sigh).
Being a Paralympian means sacrifice on top of the sacrifice of disability.
Most of all, being a Paralympian isn’t about what you can’t do, but what you Can do.
It is being an overcomer. And winning in the process.

From a Mother’s Heart

I’ll never forget the day my baby girl came to me and said “Mom, I don’t think I can play soccer anymore.” It was heartbreaking because she was so good at it and loved the sport so much! I knew right then that I HAD to find another sport for her, It took awhile, but when she discovered Judo, well, you see what happened!
